subject line you have chosen is somewhat misleading: Sat Guru Avatar Majtreya reached the Enlightening 22 years ago. These details (as well as his photo in the "Digest" section) can be easily found on the site (which I strongly recommend to treat with more seriousness, - for the reasons indicated in my earlier post).
If you are really interested, I am just a layman.

godswhip.infoSat Guru Avatar Majtreya was born on the 12th of September, 1939 in Vladivostok, a city on the Far East of the Soviet Union. In secular life he was a professional musician. Thanks to his profession he travelled widely across the USSR and thus became acutely aware of the immorality and spiritual degradation of the society he lives in, the society raised on the ideals of treachery. The society, the greatest proletarian principle of which is "Grab the spoils". The false values of sham communist invocations made him start a search of an alternative way of discovering the Truth and the ultimate aim of human existence on Earth. At the age of 33 he began studying seriously the practical aspect of yoga, various schools of naturopathy, martial arts of the East and omnifarious occult subjects, paying special attention to their moral-ethical side, directed to get rid of sansara (the cycle of death and rebirth) for all the living creatures. His creative search in that direction brought its fruits: on the 31st of July, 1981 (the day of full solar eclipse) he reached the Enlightening - the meaning and purpose of his life in this world were revealed to him, and adopted a sanyasa, officially breaking off all the kinship, state and family interrelations.
